Freedom, Survival, and the Open Sea
Rebel Errant Sailing Prepper is about more than just cruising. It’s a mission to live free, stay prepared, and explore the edges of the realm by sail. I’m blending seamanship with self-reliance, turning my boat into both a vessel of adventure and a floating survival base. From navigating remote coastlines to stocking for long passages, this is about charting a course away from control systems and toward true independence. If the world changes overnight, I’m already where I need to be — under sail, with the skills and gear to thrive
Philosophy of Survival at Sea
Life on the water demands more than sailing skill — it requires resilience, foresight, and the will to adapt. Every choice on board is made with survival in mind, from rigging built to withstand heavy seas to storing provisions that can outlast long passages. The boat is not just a vessel, it is a lifeline and a base of operations, designed to carry us through both calm anchorages and sudden storms.
To sail this way is to embrace self-reliance. Power comes from the sun and wind, water is conserved and managed, and navigation blends the old ways with modern tools. The sea strips away illusions and leaves only what works, what lasts, and what keeps you alive. Out here, freedom and survival are inseparable — and preparation is the difference between merely drifting and truly thriving.
The Journey Ahead
The story of Rebel Errant Sailing Prepper is just beginning. Tamakti Jun is already charted for the Sea of Cortez, where remote anchorages, wild coastlines, and untamed beauty will be the proving ground. Each mile under sail is both training and test, sharpening skills, refining systems, and preparing for longer voyages.
But the horizon does not end in Mexico. The course leads farther south, toward Central and South America, where rugged coasts and hidden fjords call to those willing to go beyond the reach of the ordinary. The plan is not to race across oceans, but to move deliberately, to anchor in forgotten coves, to learn from the sea itself, and to live by its rhythm.
This is more than a route on a chart — it is a path toward a life outside control, one that grows stronger with every passage. The journey ahead is open, and every horizon is an invitation.
Tamakti Jun is a 1986 Pan Oceanic 38, a cutter-rigged, pilot-house cruiser designed by Ted Brewer for serious bluewater sailing. Built with a modified keel and skeg-hung rudder, she combines offshore strength with responsive handling. At thirty-eight feet she is balanced and capable, with the volume to carry provisions and gear for long voyages while still being manageable for a small crew.
She has been carefully upgraded for reliability and self-reliance at sea. A rebuilt 50-horsepower Isuzu 4LE diesel (2024) with low hours provides dependable auxiliary power, paired with a balanced prop, new cutlass bearing, re-packed stuffing box, and rewired harness. Power is supported by a full AGM house bank, multiple solar panels, shore charger, and fresh wiring throughout. Ground tackle is secure with 230 feet of 3/8” chain and a Maxwell windlass.
On deck, she carries a robust cutter rig with a suite of sails including mainsail, genoa, staysail, storm jib, storm trysail, and gennaker with sock. An Aries wind vane and CPT autopilot provide self-steering, while new thru-hulls, seacocks, and rigging service give peace of mind offshore.
Her pilot house offers sheltered steering and a double berth, while below deck there is a functional galley with propane stove, refrigerator, freezer, and generous storage. The saloon and vee berth provide additional sleeping for a total of six, with plenty of handholds, lockers, and cabinetry for extended passagemaking.
Tamakti Jun has sailed the Pacific and the Sea of Cortez and is now fully equipped for new horizons. She is more than a yacht — she is a survival platform and a trusted partner, ready for long passages, remote anchorages, and the pursuit of true independence under sail.

An Invitation
Rebel Errant Sailing Prepper is not just one sailor’s story — it is a call to all who feel the pull of freedom. The world is changing fast, and the systems we once trusted grow tighter every day. Out here, on the sea, there is still room to breathe, to prepare, and to live on our own terms.
This is also the beginning of a community — a gathering of rebel errants with their own boats, traveling together, anchoring side by side, and sharing the skills that keep us alive. It is not about following a leader but about forming a fleet of independence, each vessel self-reliant yet united in spirit.
The logbooks, videos, and stories are here to inspire and prove that another path is possible. Whether you are already at sea or still on shore, the invitation is open. The horizon is wide, the tribe is growing, and the time to act is now.
